Muzac currently has no industries, only an informal artisan labor, so the rate of unemployment is very high. As a result, the ladder of opportunity remains a big challenge.
The most historical landmark of Muzac is the Church of the Sacré-Coeur (Sacred Heart) built in early 1940’s and It became a parish in 2016. This iconic religious structure used to be the oldest public gathering place in this area.
People of Muzac believe the most important gift they can provide to their children is a good education, and it is perhaps the only way out to a decent opportunity. Unfortunately, to this date, there is only one professional, post-secondary school serving only a fraction of the students.
Access to clean water is a necessity, but to the population of Muzac it still remains one of its biggest challenges, and even a commodity for some. In certain areas, people have to walk two kilometers or more to get tap water, and unfortunately, they have to drink the untreated water.
There is only one public community health center in Muzac, it was built in early 1980’s to service about 14,000 people. This clinic is under-staffed without a medical doctor.
People in Muzac are essentially Christians. Before 1980, more than 80% of the people were catholic. Nowadays, almost half of the population are of other protestant denominations such as Baptist, Pentecostal, Adventist, Corps du Christ, Jehovah Witness etc.
